 goin' places that i've never been.
seein' things that i may never see again
and i can't wait to get on the road again.
on the road again-
like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
we're the best of friends
insisting that the world keep turning our way

Last weekend's adventure was delightful and tiring, but totally worth it! It has been too many years since I've been in a canoe on a river, so exploring a new river was just what I needed for some excitement this summer.  I also have a feeling that if I would have stayed home the weekend before I'm suppose to go on vacation {Denver here I come- 4 days!}I would have been really upset about not getting to go sooner! Wesley and I got to see my friend Liz and her friends from St. Louis! We rented our canoe from Aker's Ferry, camped at Jason's Place, and floated the Current River. Liz has been going to this river since she was 1 year old. This was her 31st Birthday! {Happy Birthday Liz- I forgot to give you your card when I saw you and I'm not sure where it actually is- it has some Nuns on it doing something funny which I thought was prefect for you!}
Since I have my FABULOUS new camera I did not take it on the river! {it's good thing too because Wesley DUMPED me right in the COLD water} So, we took disposables which I have not yet gotten developed- and not sure I remember how- I'm thinking I can definately get them online though - somehow! {filled up 4 cameras -of course} I did take some at the campsite and as we were leaving on Sunday.

After some napped and others {me} showered. Our campfire chef, Eliza, made up Kielbasa, Potatoes and Veggies. It was pretty darn good too! Then of course it wouldn't be camping without S'Mores! YUM!

We left very early on Sunday mornings to come back home so of course we dilly-dallied around Southern Missouri/Northern Arkansas.

We stopped at Jack's Fork, which is a tributary to the Current, and looked around at some cool cabins.

Then, we stopped in historic Hardy, AR which is the hot spot for Spring River paddlers. Wesley did this trip a few years back with a group of guy friends and I'd driven through Hardy once and wanted to return because the town just looks so neat (mostly for photographing)!

We bought some Jam and Butter and an Amish treat...

and browsed some of the markets

We also stopped in Black Rock to catch a glimpse at the Black River, but nearly got stuck in the mud - so happy we have a truck now..we needed it this weekend! =)

the life i love is making music with my friends
oh i can't wait to get on the road again.

  1. I absolutely love the way you document the things you do. You take shots that make you feel like you are there while reading your post.

    Love your blog!!
