It has been a very hard working week (and weekend) for the Clark household. Last night at 10:25, I literally fell asleep trying to send a text. It's like my body was saying hello, I need more than a few hours of sleep every night, so go to bed before I embarrass you at work tomorrow!
In spite of it all, there are things to show for our work! Today I'll just be showing you what the hubs has done and later in the week I'll give you a peek at what my sisters and I have been working on!
Last weekend Wesley and my dad started painting the house, and I got a text last Sunday afternoon saying "I hope you like blue". Uh oh. After all the deliberating and trying to make sure our light gray wasn't too tan/warm we may have gone a little too on the cool tones side.
Oh well. The paint has been purchased and sprayed and there's no going back now. Wesley spent so many hours and hours and hours working on prepping the house, we could have painted it barney purple and I'd probably be happy with the color. He's still working on the trim and the windows, but I really like how they pop much more than on a white house.

- finish painting the windows and do touch up
- repaint the railing
- rehang mailbox, house numbers, and swing (it looks so naked without these)
- pick out, paint and hang new shutters. Our old shutters were of the plastic variety and basically shattered in the hail storm. They were a pre-painted bluish color. They served their purpose and added a little something to the house, but there seemed to be little thought put into which windows they were hung on and their width. So, we are thinking real wood, black, and measured appropriately for our windows to add just a little something. Especially to the front. I'm hoping we can pull this off on our very small budget!
- Decide on the door color. Leave it? Go more red red than the burnt orangy red I chose when we moved in? or Go with a completely new color - maybe a yellow?
That's a lot to do, but we have come so far!
When it's all said and done, I will (note to self) bring out my camera and photograph the details instead of just snapping the progress with my iphone.

I kind of like the idea of a yellow door!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the idea of a yellow door!
ReplyDeleteWe are also painting our house and it has taken forever to choose colors. I feel like since it's such a big project there is added pressure. And yes at this point a purple house sounds good to me ;) I love the idea of a yellow or red door!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so great! Can't wait to see it all finished.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so phenomenal about a red door.
