Sweet Potato Fries: A Favorite Side Dish or Snack

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Did you know Sweet Potato is a superfood? It is and can be prepared so many ways!

Over the past few months I've admittedly gone through a certain drive though to get one of my favorite snacks one too many times. Sweet Potato Fries sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. These are obviously of the deep fried variety which puts them at over 500 calories! yikes.

Just like any other yummy food, making it at home is way better for you. So, weather you buy them pre-cut (read your labels) or cut them yourself - this is a yummy snack for the whole family.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries Recipe:
Makes 3-4 Servings

Ingredients:
2 Large Sweet Potatoes
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil  OR Margarine Spread/Stick Melted
1 pinch of Sea Salt (to taste)
1 tablespoon of white sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees (375 for a dark pan)
Prepare your pan with a light cooking spray
Cut your Sweet Potatoes into Fries (about 1/4 inch)
In a bowl or gallon size freezer bag add all of your ingredients and toss until your fries are coated.
Spread fries on a backing sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes turning once or until they begin to brown.
For extra crispy fries add 5-8 minutes to your cooking time.

Serve immediately or once they cool a little for your little ones in a cute paper cone!

  1. My son used to love sweet potatoes so much, and now he hardly touches them. But everything is better is fry form!
