Catch the Moment 365 #catchthemoment365

As you may have read, one of my goals for 2014 is to complete a 365 Photography Project. I have to say, I was hesitant because I have given up before on this type of project, but I really want it this time. This past year, I've gained more and more photography clients and as my sessions increased, my use of my Canon DSLR decreased for my personal photos. It takes effort to get it out, lug it around, and my iPhone is always in my pocket. For this project, I plan to use my Canon though, everyday. I'm not going to be too strict on myself though, if I can't get a shot with my canon for some reason or another, I will use my iPhone 5S (the camera is pretty great). I may find that I actually do this project using both!

My goals and reason for doing this are I want to be able to look back in a month, six months and in twenty fifteen and see the every day. I want to push my photography skill to the next level. I want to learn more, love more, seek more and I want every day to reflect something. Be it a celebration, a moment I didn't want to pass, a lesson learned or even just the normal every day routine I want to capture it, store it away, and share it here with you. I want to share the passion I have for photography, my family, and life. That is kind of the point of this blog. So, this is just taking it to a whole new level.

1/365: Happy New Year!
Now, I just have to figure out the how. My plan, for now, is to try to take a morning photo during the week before I head to work. I typically do an iPhone photo of Jonah on our way to the car or when we get to NaNa's and I will probably continue that in addition to capturing something with my Canon. If I don't get a shot with my canon in the morning, I'll do it in the evening. One of my goals is to embrace some artificial and low lighting anyway, so I'll have a couple months practice at that while it's still winter. I sure do miss daylight savings time. I will also be using the #catchthemoment365 hashtag on Instagram and sharing to twitter and facebook

To top it all off, I have been fortunate enough to find some support on this photography journey and I'll be joining many of my photog/blogging friends for Catch the Moment 365 this year!

I am so excited to have connected with Sarah from Nurse Loves Farmer and Mindi from Simply Stavish to lead this project. We would love for more of you out there to join us too! Whether you started on January 1st, today or start six months from now, we'd love for you to share your personal goals with us and let us support and encourage you throughout your 365 days.

Every Friday Sarah, Mindi, and I will host a place for photographers of all kinds to share, explore, grow and connect. Our common goal: one photo, every day, for three hundred and sixty five days. Whether you are using a fancy smancy professional camera, your first DSLR, a point and shoot, or your ever-so-handy phone camera, we want to see your photos! We want to see the moments you caught each day. How amazing will it be to see each of us accomplish something that seems so big?

Here are a few guidelines for bloggers:
  1. Link up the blog post including your photos taken the previous week (Wednesday – Tuesday). Please link the direct blog post, not your homepage and select your favorite from the week as your thumbnail!
  2. Use our Catch the Moment 365 button or link back to one of your three hosts (Nurse Loves Farmer, Behind the Camera and Dreaming or SimplyStavish) somewhere within the post.
  3. By adding your link you are giving permission for your blog post and/or photos to be featured if we choose to do so. Watermarks will never be removed and photos never manipulated in any way.
  4. The weekly link up will be open Friday mornings and close Thursday before midnight and you can add your link on any of your hosts’ blogs.
  5. If you get behind, you can choose to take multiple photos in one day or just start that day where you left off and keep counting.
  6. If you miss a week (or two) of posting on your blog feel free to share multiple weeks in one post.
  7. Most importantly, have fun, and support each other! Don't forget to visit the other participants, and leave some comment love! The more you participate the more feedback and encouragement you will get!

Guidelines for sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram:
  1.  If you are sharing a blog post or just a daily photo, use #catchthemoment365. That way we can all connect, comment, and support each other on social media.
  2. You can additionally choose a personal hashtag that will link your own photos from each day and post throughout the year (ie: #catchthemoment365BTCAD, #catchthemoment365stavish, #nurselovesfmr365).
Please feel free to go ahead and grab the button for your sidebar and link up your blog below to let us know you are planning to join us!

  1. I love the idea of a morning photo, too bad my girls sleep in way past when I leave ;) I always seem to take less photos in the winter because it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. But I'm working on embracing the low light too. Or I throw on my external flash. Looking forward to your pictures over the year!
