Life Lately. Is it really July?

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

This might just be a totally random post, but I seriously tried not to spam instagram with the bazillion pictures I took this past weekend, so I'm doing it here! We had a full weekend, filled with family and fun. I decided to go for the fun rather than try to get things done around the house (again) but did manage to get a few things accomplished. I definitely didn't even put a dent in the Mount Everest of clothes on my chair in my living room though. It's still sitting there and may just reach the ceiling before it gets folded, hung, and put away. Speaking of laundry, how cute are little boys in swim trucks? or just shirtless in general? I love it.

We had a blast. That little boy of mine is so brave in the pool. I am so proud of him and terrified at the same time. He started the summer not wanting us to let him go - at all- even with his puddle jumper on, but Saturday he was throwing and fetching floating footballs and seriously paddling all over the place. This of course means I'm even more on high alert, but I love his growing independence and how much he believes in himself!

After a nap and a bath, we went out to eat Mexican with my family and headed to a local celebration and fireworks show at the Reservoir. We waited until 9:30 for fireworks and Jonah was so worn out minutes before the show started he asked to lay on my shoulder and take a nap. . . then he hid his face and made me cover his ears the entire fireworks show. I was a little disappointed he didn't love it, but it was loud and it was late. All in all I'd call it a successful summer day well spent!

Sunday, he and I headed to Walmart and spent the rest of the day at home. We played and cleaned a little and made some really good snacks.

I hope you all are living it up this summer and finding ways to beat the heat. The humidity has been out of control the last couple of days!

What are you guys up to for Canada Day and the Fourth? Are you watching the World Cup today?

I'd love to hear your plans! I can't wait for a long weekend!

  1. These pictures are all so great! Looks like a fun weekend. I totally understand what you mean about choosing fun over chores at home. I've been doing the same thing and don't really feel too bad about it either. All that stuff can wait because family fun is just more important sometimes, especially on these nice summer days. :-)

  3. Sounds like a great day! Spending time at the pool was one of my favorite ways to spend a day during the summer when I was younger.
