Tropical Chocolate Banana Yogurt Pops | #StirImagination

It's Spring (might as well be Summer time) here in Mississippi and we are in full on busy season with T-Ball, end of the year picnics, spring programs, graduations, vacation planning and the list goes on! I have been trying to get my very active children to eat and hydrate appropriately by just tricking them. haha! They are good eaters when they are hungry but not very good sit-at-the-table and finish-a-meal type of children. We try but as I have said a lot lately, breakfast is not a sit down and eat meal for us...except for the occasional weekend morning when we don't have anywhere to be! So creative ideas and nutritious grab and go ideas are welcomed in our house! 

A few weeks ago Jonah actually started telling my how to make our own popsicles and told me that when the ones we'd bought ran out, we were going to make some and he basically gave me the ingredients. We talked about juices with fresh fruit, yogurt with fruit, and then last weekend I suggested making some with his much beloved Nesquik - which he just refers to as chocolate milk. He thought the idea was brilliant. So, now we have another grab and go breakfast or after T-Ball snack for the patio. By the way, I enjoyed this recipe very much too!

He loves to help me in the kitchen, so of course I enlisted him for pouring and stirring. 

Here's the recipe we used for 4 pops and we had a little extra left over.

Tropical Chocolate Banana Yogurt Pops


  • 1 cup milk (we used Almond)
  • 2 Tbsp Nesquik Powder
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Yogurt (sub plain or vanilla yogurt with a tbsp of coconut flakes)
  • 1/2 Banana, sliced, then quartered
  • 1 -2 Teaspoons Dark Chocolate Shavings
  • 1-2 Teaspoons Slivered Almonds, roasted


  1. Mix Milk and Nesquik Powder in a large measuring cup or medium bowl with spout (for pouring later)
  2. Add Yogurt and Banana slices and combine well just by stirring with a spoon
  3. In popsicle molds add your dark chocolate and almonds to the bottom so that they will be on the top of the pop when it is frozen... OR save it for garnish after they are frozen (if you do this dip the tip of the frozen pop into a shallow dish of milk then in the topping. I chose just to make these topping my first bite by freezing them in the tip of the pop and skip a step for time's sake. 
  4. Freeze pops for at lease 4 hours
  5. Enjoy for Breakfast or Snack! 
We enjoyed these on the patio after T-Ball! You know... barefoot and on top of the playhouse table is the BEST way!

Not only were they so good but because of the yogurt, banana and Nesquik, they are actually really nutritious, full of protein and even though they are chocolate the Nesquik powder has 45% less sugar than adding chocolate syrup!
