I'm so excited to read books that I would not have necessarily picked for myself. It's so hard to just KNOW you like an author until you read that author. So, I will be venturing out of my normal chic lit/tween reading habits! he he - "I am who I am. I like what I like."
{btdub - there's a new Sophia Kinsella Novel coming out this month! Mini Shopaholic: A Novel
}
Back to the club.
We are giving one month to read each book, then getting together on Live Discussion on Blog Frog to discuss at the end of the month. Here's the schedule so far:
September: Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy
October {my pick}: Last Night at Chateau Marmot by Lauren Weisberger
December: UNDECIDED! You could SWOOP in and Pick!
January: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
I'm going to start reading this weekend on our little road trip down to New Orleans. . . if I can get the book at some point tonight. I will also be posting later/or in the morning some pictures of 4 of the cutest little cuddly babies I know! (editing is slow going...with real job, photography orders, and FOOTBALL!)
I am so excited to start the club too :) I just went to the library and got them to order all of them :) Good thing too, because your choice isn't free for another 25 days :) Looking forward to discussing these with you over wine and a computer screen;)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to participate in the book club too, but then I realized that I wouldn't be able to keep up, because I'm already behind 3 books (dammit, Costco).
ReplyDeleteSo I'll blog about my books instead.
But...the Last Night at Chateau Marmot by Lauren Weisberger is at Costco for $10 if you have a membership.

ReplyDeleteHmm... I always wanted to join a book club. Though I might have to wait until November to do so. I am also super behind on books!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading In Defense of Food by Michael Nollan (AMAZING), I also haven't finished The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and Life of Pi WAY back... so far back I'm probably going to have to start that from scratch.
If I can the first three by November, I would love to join! I'll be better, I promise! :)
The book I would love to read in November, if you girls are up for it, is A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews . It's not a very long book, though.
Sorry for the ridiculously long comment.. I'm working on them. They're like my phone messages "shutUP already" :S ......
