31 Weeks & Counting!

Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

I only have 9 weeks to go (as of Wednesday) and that is a CRAZY thought. I can't quite seem to wrap my head around how much my life will change forever in (most likely) LESS than 9 weeks. I know most women don't actually give birth on their due date, but if I do that's ONLY 61 days away from today!
I can't wait to see him and for him to be in my arms instead of my belly, but the fact that's it's so close is very overwhelming. There is so much to do and I feel kind of helpless. Everybody is working so hard to get the house just right for us to move, especially Wesley, but it's just so much and some days I cannot concentrate because there's just SO MUCH to think about. I know that worrying does me absolutely no good, but all that clinical training I have is lost on me when I try it on myself.

I make lists all week long while I’m at work to get some stuff off my mind, but it just keeps growing. I did however check one thing off. My registry has been updated. It was fun, but exhausting =) BUT it’s done! So, now, everybody go get us a gift! (hehe just kidding), but I am so excited for my showers in a few weeks! I really am looking for any advice from you Mom's out there on things you JUST LOVED! or something you wished you'd had in those first few weeks.

We also started Childbirth classes this week.
 Educational.
 I'm sure especially for Wesley!

The good news is Dr. Perry says its okay for me to prick only twice a day now. So, I guess I'm doing something right. =) I must get exctied about the little things!

I debated for a while about maternity photos. I considered hiring a photographer to take them, but then I wasn't sure if I wanted to, when we'd have time to do it, or if we could afford to do it when I could be using the money on something for the house or the baby. I've taken plenty of photos of myself in the past! So, I decided to try to do them myself. I've never used a remote before with my camera - I know that's kind of weird - but it just never came up I guess. So, I ordered one on Amazon. It was like $25 with shipping and all. So, earlier this week I decided I probably needed to practice before I drag Wesley somewhere with me. So one evening earlier this week after work I set outside with my camera and remote. I didn't break out the tripod - I wasn't exactly sure where it was and was already losing light. So I just propped the camera on the picnic table in my parent's backyard.
I thought I'd share some of my first attempt!

This one's my favorite. I like the light in my hair.

 What I learned...
  • It's harder to adjust your settings for changing light when you aren't behind the camera.
  • You have to be quick with hiding the remote, unless you set it on the 10 second delay...who wants to wait an extra 8 seconds?
  • I'm not as observant of the background when taking self portraits.
  •  I had to do a lot of cropping!
  • I don't like my outfit.
  • I should fix my hair for the real thing.
  • A stick works only sort of okay when you don't have anything to put your hair up with. =)
  • The tripod would have been extremely helpful! (next time!)
  • This is totally doable with a little patience. =)

Any self portrait advice???

  9. Ok, your practice shots are better than many shots I see as the real deal being paid for. Seriously. I wish I could come take them for you and save you the trouble though... I love maternity pics! Did you get my email? Hope it was helpful somehow, lol.
