Making Memories

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Today, I sent Jonah off to his grandparents house (two hours away) to spend the rest of the week while my Mom who usually keeps him is on a little vaca of her own and let me just say, I feel like my guts have gone on a roller coaster ride! It's honestly a little difficult to concentrate while I'm making myself all anxious. I completely trust that he'll be taken care of, but it doesn't mean my heart doesn't ache a little knowing he won't be there for me to squeeze and cuddle for the next few nights.

When I was a kid, we would spend a week or two during the summer at my grandparents out in the country. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories and it created a special place for me to go back to and want to share with my children and maybe someday my children's children.

These photos were taken on mother's day at my grandparents. Jonah loves it there. You won't find him inside for hours. He got to play with his cousins and his second cousins once removed or something like that.

His little boy heart soared when someone showed him to throw rocks into a puddle. It made him so proud to make that splash like he was jumping in it himself! Not that he didn't try that too.

Hours and hours of fresh open air.

We hid and sought, ran and jumped, and chased the sunlight well beyond the horizon. I hope Jonah makes memories to last a lifetime and cherishes his special places forever.

  1. Gorgeous pictures Stephanie! I always feel like those moments are tougher on us mommies than on our babies. I'm pretty sure I go through growing pains everytime he does something new or wakes up seeming bigger than when I put him to bed. Hope your weekend goes smoothly! I'm leaving Landon and John for the first time in a few weeks and am already anxious about it!
