Patriotic Burlap Wreath

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen a photo of this wreath appear over the weekend. While I was off work Thursday - Sunday, I decided I needed to do a few creative activities. While I didn't get much done at all while Jonah was actually awake, something about not having to work the next day motivates you at night. I've been going a little Fourth of July celebration crazy. So, look for a few more ideas over the next few days! Hopefully, I'll get a chance to post them.

This wreath was really very simple to make, but I don't have pictures of my steps because I actually did the burlap part months ago, but here's what you'll need.

   SUPPLIES

• Foam wreath ( I used 14")
  
• Burlap Jute Ribbon - 4 inch Wide (any size will do just depends on the number of times you wrap it)
• straight/sewing pins or hot glue gun
• scissors
• printer and paper
• Pinwheel printables from .fleecefun.com or just search pinterest for freebies! Check out my July 4th Board
• scrap fabric or old red, white and/or blue clothing
• the white flowers I bought back at Christmas online. 

   STEPS

1. Secure ribbon to wreath at starting point and wrap burlap ribbon around foam wreath over lapping each time you go around, then pin or glue at the end point. (also add a few glue spots or pins along with way for extra security. 
2. Fold burlap along one side of the wreath in a back and forth motion to form bow-like folds and pin into place. 
3. Gather your scrap fabric or clothing (even soft denim would work great for this) and cut into strips and start creating your rosettes. Here's a great tutorial that is way better than what mine look like!
4. Print free printables from fleecefun.com or anywhere really. You could also use patriotic scrapbook paper you might have lying around. Pinwheels are much easier to make than they look.
5. I used baker's twine to hang it because I already had the red and white, but you can just use a scrap of burlap or your fabric. 

NOTE: I used pins throughout instead of any glue. This gives me the freedom to take it off the patriotic colors and add something else to the burlap! If you'd like to save this for next year, veterens day, memorial day, flag day, etc then just make sure to store it in a sealed container so the paper doesn't get torn or faded.
