surprise! the coolest kid in Colorado made his way to Mississippi for a little family time.

It’s hard when my sister and family aren’t able to visit for several months. We are so used to being in constant contact via phone, text, social media, that it barely seems like we live so far apart, but then there are our kids. They love facetime and looking at pictures and hearing voices on the phone, but it never feel s like enough with them. Having cousins close in age has been invaluable for Jonah and his development of relationships. These are the faces he recognizes in photographs and he asks about them when they aren’t there. He might even sing songs about one of them (hey jude).

So, when my sister cooked up a surprise visit using their airline miles – we were super stoked. She wanted to surprise my parents. Both of their birthdays and anniversary all fall in the same week. If you’re going to surprise them, this is the time!  

There miiiight have been a few wrinkles in the plan and some cats that just wouldn't stay in the bag, but I guess that comes along with a close family.

Some tips if you’d like to surprise your family? Don’t text about it and just don’t tell your husband.
