Five years ago when we were crisscrossing the country on newlywed adventures and the following year taking trips to see our families all over the country, I think we thought we'd be living it up somewhere or back in Grayton Beach or Napa to celebrate five years of marriage. The reality is, things change, and we didn't even think or plan to do anything like that this year. I'm pretty sure until a few days before, we weren't really going to do anything.
Truth is we haven't taken much times for ourselves since moving back to Mississippi. We've either been planning for a baby, buying a house, raising baby, adjusting to our new roles, or occupied with home improvement repairs or side businesses. Being back near family means there are events and celebrations and invitations to dinners and the list goes on. So, we just hang out in the midst of it and honestly, I'm really okay with that. I like the hustle and bustle that being a little family brings. I like taking Jonah along to experience things for the first time or make memories as a family. We are separated for ten plus hours nearly every weekday, so being a whole family in our spare time is my happy place.
I guess it wouldn't hurt though to throw an actual date in every now and then though. It really was nice. ;)

I can relate to the hustle and bustle of real life and often without proper dates. It's all the good of real life, and the times we will miss as the children grow. Makes the nights out even sweeter.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your family! Sounds like your life is full and fun. That's a great black and white shot. I like the perspective (well, I guess it's the headless perspective, very effective). Visiting you from Little Things Thursday.
