On Christmas morning, we received the gift of rest. Our little elf didn't wake up until after nine o'clock. Unfortunately, it was because he was a little under the weather, but was definitely well enough to rally for a little Santa time. I wrote here about whether or not I felt like Jonah really understood Christmas this year and it was really funny to watch him come into the living room and see what Santa had left for for him. Santa displayed his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because we wanted that Ooohh ahhh moment of magic. Jonah however, wasn't quite sure at first. He kind of looked and looked away and then finally was like Mickey Mouse! Then, he really didn't care about opening any other gifts.
We played with Mickey Mouse and my camera remote obviously, then face timed with parents and sister. He then decided he'd see what else was in that sack and his stocking.
We also had a few gifts from us - books, clothes and a set of puzzles. The gift I was most excited about was his balance bike. I think he's a little small for it and it's a bit intimidating to him right now, but since he won't have a big gift occasion again until October, we decided to go ahead and let Santa bring it for him. My parents came over to see and we spent a little time before nap outside. He enjoyed being pushed, but I think he'll get the hang of it and love it.
I truly hope your Christmas was wonderful and restful. I also think during these special times about families that aren't together and am even more thankful for what we have.
