Odd Mom Out

Friday, May 29, 2015

Have you ever felt like the Odd Mom Out? I know I have, and do, often. I say the dumbest things and try to fit in and still stay true to myself, my beliefs and value system but it's hard not to desire acceptance.

I work out side of my home full-time, I breast fed, but didn't extend breast feeding, I wore my baby in wrap every where we went for the first few months of his life, I have all boys but love really girly things, I am a little bit crunchy, but don't really fit into the hippie crowd. I've never died my hair, I have stretch marks up to my eye balls, I have fairly liberal political beliefs but live a very conservative life, and I could go on. These things don't make me odd, but some of them make me feel like I don't fit into any certain niche of women. In blogging world, it feels like most moms stay home or work from home. In work world, it feels like no one would understand this world of blogging. I love people. I love that people are different and unique and cool and different from me and that's why Odd Mom Out feels so familiar and left me laughing so hard - I had to go back and watch the first two episodes again last night!

I got to preview Odd Mom Out (the premiere is June 8th but you can see the trailer here) and laughed out loud so much. You really can't help but fall in love with, Jill, the main character. She tries to be true to herself while doing what's best for her kids, husband and family.

Jill lives in New York City's Upper East Side with her husband and three littles. She has money but not the kind of MONEY those around her have. Doesn't it always feel like everyone has more money than you? She's pale and dark haired and sticks out among her mommy peers who summer on the beach and spend their days in the salon. She tries really hard to embrace who she is and where she is in life as a stay at home mom! She has people in her life that keep her from turning into a competitive mombot which leads to great comedic material! The show is smart and witty and I've definitely already set the DVR.

I am looking forward to having a little viewing party with my people this weekend and maybe sipping on a few of these Mom drinks!

My sisters - I can be odd with them and they still have to love me.
